Welcome to Dhelkaya Health
Dhelkaya Health brings together Castlemaine Health, Maldon Hospital and CHIRP Community Health. We’re here to help you and your family live happier and healthier lives at all ages in the Mount Alexander Shire, and beyond.
Coming together as Dhelkaya Health follows years of collaboration and partnership between our three health services.
Local communities have complex, evolving needs and in 2021 we began exploring how we could deliver better healthcare as a unified service. With the community’s support Dhelkaya Health was created on 1 March 2022
Our future direction
We’ve been working on a new strategic plan to guide our health and wellbeing services for the next three years.
Now we’d like to hear what you think.
Who is Dhelkaya Health?
‘Dhelkaya’ means ‘being healthy’ in the Dja Dja Wurrung language. The origins of our name are closely tied to our region’s history, its people and country.
Dhelkaya Health is located on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung People. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People as the first people of this nation. Dhelkaya Health is committed to achieving equality in health status between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians.
