Homeshare

What is Homeshare?

Homeshare brings two unrelated people together to share a home and their lives for the benefit of both.

Homeshare is inclusive and no two homesharing arrangements are alike. Your age, gender, sexual or cultural identity and your ability all shape who you are. Homeshare will match you to someone with whom you are comfortable.

Homeproviders are people who live alone, have a spare room and could benefit from having someone else in the house. They are people who would like:

  • a supportive person in the house at night
  • extra help
  • a person close by in case of emergency
  • help with light gardening
  • someone to cook some meals for you
  • someone to share a meal with
  • to commit a minimum of 6 months homesharing.

Homeseekers are individuals or couples over 18 years who need affordable housing and can provide 10-12 hours each week of agreed tasks. They are people who are:

  • over 18 years
  • looking to work or study locally but cannot afford the current rents
  • keen to lend a hand and connect with others
  • able to give 10-12 hours of time a week in exchange for a comfortable room
  • responsible, mature and reliable
  • able to commit a minimum of 6 months homesharing.

What Homeshare is not

Homeshare is not:

  • an offer of free accommodation
  • a tenancy agreement.
  • emergency housing.
  • personal care.
