Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program

Launch your nursing career with Dhelkaya Health’s Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program.

Program highlights include two six-month rotation opportunities in:

  • either our acute medical/surgical unit, or rehabilitation subacute unit
  • one of our four residential aged care homes located at either Castlemaine or Maldon campuses.

Our dedicated learning and development team consists of Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinical Support Nurses, and a Graduate Program Coordinator. Our team provides a frequent presence in the clinical spaces and offers weekly education topics, peer-led debriefings and paid professional study days throughout the year.

Beginning with a comprehensive orientation, carefully designed to familiarise you with our organisation and clinical environments. These positions offer a 0.8 FTE (8 shifts per fortnight), enabling a blend of professional growth and work-life balance.

Throughout the program, you’ll build a diverse and valuable skill set, including skills in:

  • comprehensive patient assessment
  • medical and surgical nursing practice
  • palliative and end-of-life care
  • rehabilitation nursing
  • care of older adults, including dementia-specific support
  • wound management techniques
  • chronic disease management
  • effective teamwork and communication.

Graduate Registered Nurse Program

Dhelkaya Health offers a comprehensive Graduate Registered Nurse Program that supports a smooth transition from student to practitioner and strengthens theoretical and clinical practice skills.

Program highlights include three four-month rotation opportunities in:

  • acute medical/surgical unit
  • rehabilitation subacute unit
  • operating suite
  • community and correctional nursing facilities
  • aged care homes.

These sites span across our Castlemaine, Maldon and Tarrengower campuses.

Our Graduate Program goes beyond the basics — offering regular professional study days, weekly learning sessions, and peer-led debriefs that turn knowledge into confidence. A tailored quality improvement project empowers graduates to master person-centred care planning and step into leadership through collaborative knowledge sharing.

We have a dedicated Learning and Development Team comprising Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Support Nurses to ensure that all graduates are encouraged and guided in an inclusive, well-supported environment.

Upon commencement, graduates receive a comprehensive orientation to the hospital and clinical placement areas in a friendly, supportive environment.  Positions are 0.8 FTE (8 shifts per fortnight).

Midwifery Graduate Program

Dhelkaya Health, in partnership with Bendigo Health, is offering a comprehensive clinical program for Graduate Midwives in 2026.

Dhelkaya Health is a Level 2 maternity service, offering local pregnancy, labour and birth and early parenting care for healthy women with normal pregnancies.

Dhelkaya Health offers:

  • three dedicated maternity birthing/postnatal rooms.
  • team of five midwives offering Midwifery Group Practice (caseload) midwifery care for women from Castlemaine, Bendigo, Kyneton, Daylesford, Woodend, the Macedon Ranges and surrounding regions
  • midwifery team who work closely with a team of local general practitioner obstetricians to provide on-call care 24/7, as required
  • continuity of care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, including domiciliary care up to 6 weeks postnatal
  • lactation consultant service

There are two midwifery graduate positions available in 2025.

Graduates will take part in a six-month rotation at Bendigo Health through birth suite and Women’s Ward and a six-month rotation at Dhelkaya Health in supported caseload midwifery.  One position will start at Dhelkaya Health and the other at Bendigo Health, and each graduate will swap at the six-month mark.

Preceptors, Clinical Support Nurses and Midwifery educators will ensure that the graduates are supported during their rotation. You will participate in a comprehensive orientation program to both hospitals and clinical areas.

Dhelkaya Health’s Graduate Program:

  • 6-month rotations at each health service
  • 0.8 FTE (8 shifts per fortnight)
  • work across the midwifery scope in the MGP program
  • consolidate clinical skills
  • paid study days.

 Skills you will gain:

  • teamwork
  • time management
  • working to full scope of practice in MGP program
  • working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
  • neonatal resuscitation theoretical and practical skills
  • CTG interpretation
  • care of women and babies with increased needs.

Placements are supervised by a dedicated team of professionals, allowing students to learn on-the-job and gain valuable skills commensurate with scope of practice.

We offer frequent debrief and short education sessions (where appropriate) throughout placement.

Students must be enrolled with a registered training organisation or university.

Accommodation

Dhelkaya Health offers on-site accommodation for students on short-term placements. Our accommodation consists of single rooms with access to a communal kitchen. The accommodation unit is directly adjacent to our clinical areas, only a few minutes away.

Our Castlemaine campus is within walking distance of public transport and the main town of Castlemaine. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and entertainment nearby.

Homeshare

Dhelkaya Health also runs an innovative Homeshare program, which is open to graduates and those undertaking placements with us. The program brings Homeseekers together with Homeproviders for the benefit of both.
