Aboriginal Health Liaison Services
Aboriginal Health Liaison services are available from 9am – 4:30pm from Monday to Wednesday.
Our Aboriginal Health Liaison team can support you with:
- cultural, emotional, spiritual and clinical support to patients and families
- patient advocacy
- cultural consultation to clinicians
- support at family meetings with doctors
- support with discharge planning.
How to access this service
For privacy reasons, patients must request or agree to a referral to the Aboriginal Health Liaison team. Please tell your nursing staff or doctor you would like a referral to be sent or make it known during the admission process.
What can I do about transport?
If you need transport to and from Dhelkaya Health, we can provide taxi vouchers.

Dhelkaya Health supports patients who identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander when they enter our hospital. We also provide support to their families during their stay.
Maternity Services Clients
If you, your partner or your baby identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you may have an Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer or other support person with you throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth and early parenting.
