Support at Home

Upcoming changes to Home Care Packages: What you need to know

Current home care recipients and older people approved for Home Care Packages will transition to a new Support at Home program on 1 July 2025.

The Support at Home program is a new government-led approach to in-home care for older people. It consolidates several current programs—including Home Care Packages, Short-Term Restorative Care, and parts of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)—into a single, more adaptable system.

What’s new?
Some of the key elements of the Support at Home program include:

  • up to eight levels of support and funding, tailored to individual care needs
  • a consistent national pricing structure across all aged care providers
  • a care model that prioritises the rights and preferences of individuals
  • improved transparency and stronger safeguards for consumers.

What types of services are included?
The goal of Support at Home is to help older people stay in their homes safely and independently for as long as possible. Services that may be available include:

  • clinical and health-related support such as nursing, physiotherapy, and other allied health services
  • personal care assistance with tasks like dressing, bathing, and managing medications
  • help with everyday household chores, including meal prep, shopping, gardening, and cleaning

What does this mean for you?
If you’re currently receiving a Home Care Package through Dhelkaya Health, your services will continue. Over the coming months, your coordinator will work with you to review your care plan and make sure the transition is seamless.

A focus on rights and transparency
One of the core principles of this reform is a rights-based approach to aged care. This means services will be delivered in a way that respects your independence, values your preferences, and protects your dignity.

A new Code of Conduct will also be introduced, setting clear expectations for all aged care providers and workers. Standardised pricing will apply across the sector to ensure fairness. Dhelkaya Health will always provide clear, upfront information about fees and changes to fees.

Support at Home

You’ve worked hard to make a home. Of course, you want to enjoy it for as long as possible. But sometimes you need help with the things you used to do that aren’t so easy anymore.  If you’re 65 and older, or 50 and older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, we can offer you a range of support options to help you stay comfortable at home.

Have you noticed that you or your loved one might need some additional assistance at home?  Maybe your loved ones have noticed this and spoken to you about it?  Recognising the need for extra support is a big step for both the people who need care and also their loved ones.

Why choose us?

Dhelkaya Health will provide you and your family comfort and relief knowing that you have the supports and systems in in place to enable you to live each day, the way you’d rather live it – fewer worries and more supports – at home.

We know first-hand how daunting the aged care system is to access.

Through Dhelkaya Health’s Support at Home program, we can assist you with all stages of your journey, from navigating government websites, undergoing assessments, service allocation getting starting. We’re happy to guide you on your entire journey.

You might not know what services would be best for you – that’s OK. We can provide you with suggestions and recommend services & supports. We’re here to help you identify what type of help at home is right for you.  You can mix and match these to suit your needs and preferences.

Our carers can help you with your personal care needs, do some laundry, take you to the shops. Our range of services are designed to suit your living situation. The driver’s seat is yours!
