Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Living at Dhelkaya Health

Dhelkaya Health residents enjoy their independence. They make their own decisions about lifestyle, menus, hairdressing and personal care, social activities and health classes.

These opportunities help residents settle in, build connections, and maintain an active, fulfilling life. Participation is voluntary and adapted to needs, with volunteer support playing a key role in delivery.

Trishaw Program

Dhelkaya Health offers residents the opportunity to take part in the Trishaw Program. This is a partnership with Cycling Without Age aimed at fostering social inclusion, community participation, and improved mental and physical wellbeing.

This innovative program offers older community members, particularly those with limited mobility, the opportunity to enjoy outdoor trishaw rides, supported by a team of trained and passionate volunteer pilots.

Volunteer pilots operate the program offering trishaw rides for aged care residents across both Castlemaine and Maldon campuses.

Trishaw rides offer numerous benefits for participants, primarily focusing on enhancing well-being, reducing socialisolation, and fostering community engagement.

These rides provide a unique opportunity for older adults, those withmobility limitations, and individuals with disabilities to experience fresh air, connect with nature, and enjoy social interaction.

Social and recreation

Residents at both Castlemaine and Maldon campuses can take part in a wide range of social and recreation activities.

  • Companionship and Group Interactions: One-on-one chats, shared interests (e.g., reading, crosswords, card games, computer assistance), small group sessions like bingo, poetry reading, singalongs, quizzes, board games, and conversation circles.
