On Friday, 29 September I had the absolute pleasure of being part of Run The Maine. On a beautiful day everyone present at Camp Reserve was welcomed to Dja Dja Wurrung country by Uncle Rick Nelson, who set the scene for the wonderful festive atmosphere that continued throughout the day.
Run The Maine is the biggest annual fundraising event for Dhelkaya Health. Every year the event helps our health service upgrade equipment and improve facilities, so everyone who played a part in making this event happen has helped real people and changed lives. Run the Maine also makes a significant contribution to our community’s health and wellbeing.
I’m grateful to Run the Maine committee members Jacqui Knee, Di Cox, Scott Carlon-Tozer, Pat Smith, Karina Taylor, Ross Jarvis, Ed Griffin, Richard Mayes and Gavin Krasner, who work all year round on behalf of us all to make this one of Victoria’s premier running events. I’d also like to thank the Rapid Relief Team for their considerable contribution to making the day such a success. What an amazing job this group of volunteers do.
I’d also like to express my appreciation to the event sponsors and to everyone who took part as a runner, walker, or attendee. Each and every one of you has made a real difference. Thousands of people in our community who find themselves in hospital in our care will now benefit from the new equipment that will be purchased.
On behalf of Dhelkaya Health’s staff, volunteers and Board, thank to everyone involved in bringing this outstanding event to us all. Our health service is so fortunate to have such wonderful community support.
