Dhelkaya Health, in collaboration with local community groups, is excited to present two informative and leisurely walking tours in Maldon this September.
The first tour, in partnership with the Tarrangower Dementia Alliance, will take place on Tuesday, 17 September during Dementia Action Week.
This year’s theme is “Act Now for a Dementia-Friendly Future.” Participants will gain insights into what it means for Maldon to be a dementia-friendly community.
Attendees will hear from an alliance member living with dementia, who will share the importance of community engagement for those affected by dementia. The walk will include visits to notable locations such as the Athenaeum Library and the Maldon Croquet Club, highlighting recent accessibility improvements. The tour will commence at 10:30 a.m. from the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre.
The second tour, scheduled for Thursday, 26 September will be held in partnership with Maldon Urban Landcare Inc (MULGA).
This tour offers a unique opportunity to view a remarkable 540-year-old yellow-box tree. Participants will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Rotunda in the Maldon Gardens on High Street, near the Visitor Information Centre. Guide Bev Phillips will discuss MULGA’s efforts in surveying indigenous eucalypts in and around Maldon, sharing details about tree species, GPS locations, and estimated ages based on growth rates.
Please note that both tours will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain.
