Dhelkaya Health is on a mission to make smiles brighter across Mount Alexander Shire!
This August, as part of Dental Health Week, we’re teaming up with early learning centres through the Smiles 4 Miles program to champion exceptional oral health habits from a young age. From August 5 to 11, join us in celebrating and participating in fun and engaging activities designed to spark enthusiasm for healthy teeth and gums in our community’s youngest learners.
At Maldon Preschool, teacher Cory Hartmann ran Dental Health Week activities for the children, and even organised a visit from the Tooth Fairy!
“The Tooth Fairy talked to us about how to keep your teeth healthy, and how to brush teeth correctly. She used Dhelkaya Health’s toothbrushing puppet, which made the children quite excited as it squirts water”, said Cory.
“She also talked to us about what foods to eat. The children sorted play foods into the different categories. Children found out that a Coca-Cola has 16 teaspoons of sugar in it!”
Smiles 4 Miles is an initiative of Dental Health Services Victoria, which aims to improve the oral health of children and their families by assisting early childhood services to promote good oral health habits among children in their care.
