It’s well known that walking offers numerous physical and mental health benefits. Just ask the Maldon Walking Group members, who were recently surveyed on the benefits they received from their participation.
The group has been walking together for over ten years, and a recent survey showed that 83.5% of members feel more active and mentally well thanks to their involvement.
All walkers – who ranged in age from 62 to over 85 years – strongly agreed that the Maldon Walking Group boosted their social connections and increased their sense of belonging in the community.
The Maldon Walking Group meets at the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre at 9.30 am every Monday and Friday for a leisurely one hour walk around the beautiful township of Maldon, followed by a cuppa and a chat.
A group of brisker walkers also meet every Tuesday at 7.30 am outside the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre.
