Castlemaine is well-known for its locally produced coffee, talented baristas and lively café scene. So it’s no surprise that Castlemaine Health is looking to attract some of the local industry talent into its hospital café.
The café has long been a mainstay of the hospital. While its core business is selling food, snacks and beverages, it also sells toiletries, children’s colouring and activity books and other items of need for patients, hospital visitors and staff.
The café area is a vibrant social space that’s greatly valued by staff and visitors. It’s a place to get together for a coffee and chat, have an informal meeting and run fundraising activities for the hospital.
Castlemaine Health’s Acting Chief Executive Kerryn Healy said: “We think Castlemaine Health’s café has a lot of potential and we’re really excited about finding someone who does too. We want to grow our café into something really special for our staff, visitors and patients.”
Castlemaine Health welcomes thousands of patients through its doors every year and employs around 660 staff, so the café attracts a high turnover of customers with varied dietary needs.
Kerryn said: “We’re looking for someone who can step up to the challenge of delivering a great service to a diverse group of customers.”
Castlemaine Health is looking for interest from people with experience as a food/catering operator and a track record in delivering food and beverages. Applicants also need to have good business management skills and be fully aware and compliant with all relevant health, safety and food hygiene regulations.
Applications close at midnight on Friday, 21 April. To find more, visit www.castlemainehealth.org.au.
