Murray to Moyne is fast approaching and the Castlemaniacs and Castlemaine Rouleurs’ combined strength of 35 riders are once again taking to the road. They’re riding 520 kms from Echuca to Port Fairy to raise much needed funds for Castlemaine Health. Since 1992 the teams have raised the incredible amount of over $598,000.
Riding together truly is a “Family Affair” with the next generations continuing the tradition of family fun, teamwork and supporting each another.
Introducing the well-known local families riding in the Castlemaine Rouleurs
The Marshall family – parents Gabrielle and Craig are now in their 4th year and it is looking like they are working on creating their own team. Their son Zed is about to embark on his 3rd ride. This year their son Tobiah, has already started training and is ready to be a part of the family challenge.
The Maddern Family – Bryan is now in his 16th year. In 2019 his son Jack joins the riders for the first time. There is a lot of excitement as dad will show him the ropes on the road.
The Priest Family – Phil is in his 16th year of riding and his son Ben is now well on his way to catching up to dad. 2019 is Ben’s 6th year riding with the team.
It doesn’t stop there. The teams also boast family couples Lois and Paul Kent, Jenny and David Boak, Melissa Wade and Gary Roberts within our ranks.
We wish the families and all our riders safe and fun-filled rides as they train in the lead up to the Murray to Moye relay in April. We are grateful to both teams for their fantastic efforts.
