Castlemaine Rouleurs cycle team, riders standing next to their bicycles

Castlemaine Rouleurs gear up for epic 120km charity ride in support of local health service

The Castlemaine Rouleurs are back at it, continuing their long-standing tradition of raising much-needed funds for their local health service with a challenging and rewarding ride. This weekend the dedicated team will take on a 120km route, covering some of the most iconic climbs in the region: Mount Alexander, Mount Tarrengower, and Mount Franklin. The ride promises to push the riders to their limits, all in the name of supporting a fantastic cause.

Ben Priest, a key rider with the Castlemaine Rouleurs, shared his excitement about the ride: “This event means so much to us, not only as a physical challenge but also as a way to give back to the community that has supported us over the years. It’s incredible to see how the local community rallies around events like this, and we’re proud to be part of something that makes a real difference.”

The riders taking on this monumental challenge include Ben Priest, Paul and Lois Kent, Carl Harris, Michael Priest, Gabe and Craig Marshal, Mike and Sam Murphy, Simon Gearing, Gary Bunn, and John Weinrich – together known as the Castlemaine Rouleurs. They will traverse the hilly terrain of the region, united in their effort to raise vital funds for the local health service.

Ben emphasised the importance of community support: “The funds we raise will have a direct impact on the lives of those who rely on our local health services. Whether it’s supporting life-saving treatments, providing essential medical equipment, or ensuring that our health workers have the resources they need, every dollar counts. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributes to this cause.”

The Castlemaine Rouleurs are thrilled to have the support of their event sponsors, which include Castlemaine’s Flowserve Pump Division (Aust/NZ) and RMG Project & Engineering Services. Their contributions have been instrumental in making this event possible, and the riders are grateful for their partnership.

“We wouldn’t be able to do this without the generous support of our sponsors,” said Priest. “Their commitment to our cause helps make the ride even more impactful, and we are proud to partner with such community-focused businesses.”
