Dhelkaya Health’s Castlemaine campus will receive more than $1 million in new investment to upgrade vital laparoscopy equipment and plan upgrades for the acute and subacute wards, strengthening access to high‑quality care for local patients.
Laparoscopy is an essential diagnostic tool used to investigate a range of conditions, including endometriosis. With laparoscopic procedures accounting for around 13% of all surgeries performed at the hospital, this upgrade will support more patients to receive free care close to home.
The investment is funded through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), which is also supporting Dhelkaya Health to plan and deliver modernised acute and subacute facilities for the community.
This latest funding builds on previous RHIF support that has upgraded surgical equipment, patient hoists and digital tracking systems—improving safety, efficiency and the overall patient experience.
The RHIF supports a wide range of projects across regional Victoria to boost capacity, modernise facilities and ensure communities can access the care they need. This investment reflects a commitment to ensuring regional Victorians can access high‑quality, free public healthcare close to home.
