On Thursday 21 August our new Learning Hub was officially opened by the Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney, and Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards MP.
The Learning Hub is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide world-class healthcare training to regional Victorians, with a focus on in-demand skills in allied health, aged care and (in 2026) nursing.
The Learning Hub is a collaboration between Dhelkaya Health and Bendigo TAFE to train up to 60 students at a time who will gain hands-on skills using specialist equipment designed to simulate real-world healthcare settings.
The new space includes a four-bed healthcare simulation space, a two-bed aged care simulation and a home unit simulation. There are also general-purpose classrooms with a student breakout, storage, reception and a shared staff office space.
The partnership between Bendigo TAFE and Dhelkaya Health means students have direct access to placements and jobs at local employers.
“The Learning Hub will mean that students are able to study and work locally, as well as ensure our staff are able to further develop their skills in world-class training facilities”, said CEO Sue Race.
All spaces will be shared by Bendigo TAFE for delivering training programs, Dhelkaya Health for staff development, graduate nurse training, and external student support, and Monash University, through the regional GP 4th year medical student placement program.
In addition, the function and meeting rooms are available for use by all Dhelkaya Health staff — ensuring the facility is truly integrated into our everyday operations.
