As part of 2019’s National Palliative Care Week, Pastoral Care Coordinator Danni Moore conducted Castlemaine Health’s inaugural Remembrance Service of Reflections and Memories.
The service brought together families, friends and staff to remember and give thanks for the lives of those who had passed away at Castlemaine Health in the previous year.
The moving service was held in the Auditorium at Castlemaine Health. It brought together people who had all experienced recent loss and who wanted to reflect and celebrate the lives of those deeply loved and missed.
“The service was so well received by family, friends and staff alike that we decided to make it an annual event” said Danni Moore.
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has limited our ability to gather together and we have all been isolated by circumstances. The isolation has only heightened the importance of coming together with kindred souls to share a few moments in time reflecting on those we loved and lost.
In acknowledging this, Castlemaine Health has filmed the Remembrance Service of Reflections and Memories for families, friends and staff to share in online.
“The restrictions we face around large gatherings have forced us to respond creatively. Rather than simply cancel the service, we wanted to make sure that everyone, regardless of circumstances, was still able to share in this important event” Danni said.
“Doing it this way has made it even more accessible than it would otherwise have been.”
The service is conducted by Danni Moore, Pastoral Care Coordinator, and was filmed in Castlemaine Health’s Sacred Space.
The Remembrance Service of Reflections and Memories is available to watch on Castlemaine Health website at www.castlemainehealth.org.au/events. It can be accessed via any PC, phone or tablet device with an internet connection.
