Run The Maine smashes records for Dhelkaya Health

Clear blue skies welcomed a staggering 1,200+ participants to the 16th Run the Maine on Grand Final Eve, Friday 27 September – the largest field in the event’s history.

From casual walkers tackling the Castlemaine Toyota 5km to seasoned athletes chasing personal bests in the Grainger Legal 21.1 km half-marathon, the day buzzed with energy across all three courses. The Goldfields Medical 10km also drew huge numbers, with new course records set in every distance.

Event Director Gavin Krasner was beaming. He said: We filled Western Reserve – a big space – and then some! Over 1,200 runners is a record-breaking leap, and the natural buzz around a major community run like this is electric. Huge thanks to our 50 volunteers. Without them, none of this happens.

This isn’t just a fun day out; it’s a serious event for runners too. When top club athletes are turning up, you know we’re doing something right.”

Thanks to sponsors and participants, the 2025 event has raised an incredible $50,000 for a transformative new project at Dhelkaya Health.

Sue Race said: “These donations will go towards the Therapeutic Playspace in Spencely Garden – an outdoor therapy area designed with children and young people in mind. It will support physical, emotional, and developmental needs in a natural setting.

While tailored for kids, there’ll be plenty of space for families and other community users. We’re thrilled to put able to put all of the funds raised to this.”

With local faces, fast times, and feel-good vibes, Run the Maine once again proved it’s more than a race, it’s a celebration of health, heart, and home.
