We’re delighted to announce that Dhelkaya Health has donated more than 1,000 books to Bendigo Foodshare in support of their upcoming Book Fair, one of the organisation’s most important fundraising events of the year.
Bendigo Foodshare is a vital local charity with a catchment area covering Central Victoria, including the Mount Alexander Shire. Their work ensures that individuals and families across the region have access to nutritious food when times are tough.
The annual Book Fairs play a major role in making that vision possible. Held twice a year – over the Easter and AFL Grand Final long weekends – and appearing monthly at the Bendigo Community Farmers Market, these events collectively raise more than $100,000 annually. Every dollar goes directly toward supporting Bendigo Foodshare’s daily operations, enabling them to provide food relief to more than 15,000 people each week across the region.
Our donation of over 1,000 books (including fiction and non-fiction and covering a huge spectrum of genres) will help stock the shelves for the September Book Fair. Each Book Fair attracts visitors from across Victoria, with long queues forming on opening morning as keen book lovers line up to secure their next great read. We’re proud to contribute to an event that not only celebrates the joy of reading but also strengthens the wellbeing of our community.
The Easter Book Fair will be held over four days at MacGillivray Hall at Bendigo TAFE, 128 McCrae Street, Bendigo. This year, an additional room has been added, giving visitors much needed space to explore the extensive range on offer.
