Castlemaine Health CEO signals retirement

Ian Fisher, Castlemaine Health Chief Executive Officer, has confirmed he plans to retire from his position as CEO within the next six months.

Mr Fisher took up the CEO position in January 2013. His retirement plans have been in place for several years. They come as no surprise to staff and those who know him.

Castlemaine Health Board Chair Peggy Ronnau said: “I’ve been working with Ian for the last 18 months and I have the utmost respect for his knowledge, integrity and commitment to Castlemaine Health. He is a true gem and I wish him well on the next stage of his adventures.”

Mr Fisher is well-known in the Mount Alexander community as Castlemaine Health CEO and as a long-standing member of Rotary. He is also a committed cyclist and member of the Castlemaine Rouleurs, riding for many years to fundraise for Castlemaine Health as part of the Murray to Moyne cycle relay. Mr Fisher is also a much-loved honorary member of the Castlemaniacs Murray to Moyne cycling team.

Peggy described Ian’s dedication to the residents, patients and staff through the COVID-19 pandemic as “nothing short of heroic”. Peggy said: “I’ve felt privileged to work alongside him.”.

Advertising for a new CEO for the health service will begin this weekend. The recruitment process is expected to take around six months.
