A group of Grade Prep and One students from Winters Flat Primary School enjoyed a special celebration at Ellery House at Castlemaine Health just prior to Christmas.
The students spent part of Term Four working with aged care residents at Ellery House to create two very special art works to be permanently displayed at the home.
The project was carried out with the support of Winters Flat art teacher Juliet Jefferys and Ellery House care project coordinator Lynne Bird and saw 10 students and 10 residents work together to create river and se creatures to be featured in the water themed works.
The artists gathered for a special unveiling and afternoon tea just prior to Christmas.
Each student and resident received a card featuring their art work and enjoyed singing some Christmas Carols together to wrap up the event. Ms Bird thanked Ms Jefferys and her students for being part of the initiative.
“Our residents loved the visits with the children and we are sure they will gain great enjoyment from the art works for many years to come,” she said.
Ms Jefferys looks forward to conducting a similar program in 2020.
